These hotels are designed to a high standard, with all of the amenities you could need for a pleasant stay. Via Hotel

This is possible the highest rated hotel on this list, with average customer reviews that top all of the others on many of the big hotel websites, including our favorite, Hotels Combined. The location is key here, as it is a short walk from Ximending, with the national Taiwan Museum and other great attractions just a short distance away. Yomi Hotel is ideal for those who are not confident of foreign food and want to stick to what they know, as their onsite restaurant serves many International foods. They also stock some local specialties though, so don’t worry if you do like to try new things. Breakfast offers a wide range of foods, and this is served to all guests every morning in the restaurant area. All of the rooms in the Yomi Hotel come with a fridge and a minibar, and guests can help themselves to cups of tea and coffee in there too, ordering room service for that little something extra if they are in the mood.

The front desk is not only available 24 hours a day, but they can also help guests get around the city. They know the ins and outs of Taipei and as well as directing you to the best places to eat and drink, they can also book tours around the best sights in the city. The rooms aren’t quite up to the standard as the Via hotel listed above, but you definitely get your money’s worth and there is nothing here to suggest that Yomi Hotel should not be rated higher than it is. ECFA Hotel Chengdu

A short walk from the Red House Theater, the ECFA Hotel Chengdu offers modern 3-star luxury, with free internet throughout the building, a front desk that is available 24 hours a day, flat-screen televisions in all of the rooms and a great location as well. ECFA Hotel Chengdu is right next to the Ximen Metro Station and it is a ten minute walk away from Ximending. It is also not too far from the Taipei Songshan Airport, which can be reached in less than half an hour by car. The airport does not have a shuttle service, but the front desk will be happy to arrange a taxi to take you to the airport on your final day, and the relatively short trip will mean that it won’t cost you the earth.

Green World Hotel

There are 128 rooms in the Green World Hotel and at the time of writing, all of them have recently been refurbished and updated. These rooms get the basics right, with comfort and simplicity being the order of the day. They all have plush and comfortable beds, and all rooms come with a minibar, a fridge, a flat-screen television with cable channels and a private bathroom, in which you will find a modern shower.

The Green World does not have a fitness center or a gym of any kind, but it does have a laundry service and the front desk is helpful in other ways as well. There is also an onsite restaurant if you are feeling peckish, and all rooms come with tea and coffee making facilities if you want to make yourself a drink at any point.

As far as location goes, the Green World Hotel is ideally placed for a commute around the city, being just a short distance away from the Taipei Railway Station and the Taipei Bus Station, both of which will take you all around the city of Taipei.

Diary of Taipei Hotel

This is an odd name for a hotel, and what’s even more odd is that there is a Diary of Taipei Hotel II — a sequel, if you like. This is a very good hotel though and one that gets all of the basics right. It is a little on the smaller size and has one of the smallest average room sizes of all of the hotels listed here, but Taipei is generally a compact city and when it comes to 3-star hotels designed to a high standard, you’re not going to get much better.

There are 53 modern rooms inside the Diary of Taipei Hotel, and as it is a short distance away from some great attractions, including the Taipei Futai Street Mansion and the Presidential Office Building, it serves as the perfect base for your Taipei adventure — enough to fill your own travel diary.
