NCCU Hotels – Hotels Near National Chengchi University

Located in Taipei City and founded in 1927 (although it was relocated to its current spot in later years), the National Chengchi University is a jewel in the educational crown of the Republic of China. The National Chengchi University produces many graduates who go on to work in government jobs, and the rate of graduates that go on to find full-time employment in general is very high.

Around the university you won’t find a lot of attractions that appeal to tourists, but it will give you a taste of the real Taipei, and many travelers prefer this. Also, if you take a short train or car journey, then you can find attractions that tourists flock to, such as the Shilin Night Market and the Taipei 101, two of the most popular attractions in the entire city.

There are not a great deal of hotels to choose from in this area, as this is typically not a tourist region. However, if you venture a little future out of the district then there is a lot more to see. This includes the Holiday Inn East Taipei, which is a 4-star hotel that is around 3 miles away from the university, and the Dandy Hotel Daan, which is around 5 miles away. We have stuck with the theme for this article though and both of the hotels below can be found within walking distance of the National Chengchi University, which is located in the Wenshan District.

Times Nagasaki Hotel

The Times Nagasaki provides guests with a comfortable and affordable base for their trip to Taipei, and their stay in the Wenshan District. Despite only being a 2.5 star hotel, there is a lot of extras on offer here that warrant a much higher rating, and the hotel has also been highly praised by the many guests that have passed through their doors over the years.

  • Free WiFi? Yes
  • Pool? No
  • Fitness Center? No
  • Restaurants? No
  • Near Public Transport? Yes

Cleanliness is important to the Times Nagasaki Hotel and all of the rooms, and the hotel itself, are immaculate from floor to ceiling. They are also spacious and open, with little clutter. All rooms are air conditioned, to keep the heat of the city at bay, and they all come with tea and coffee making facilities and a free bottle of water.

All guests can enjoy the use of a private bathroom, which come with either a bathtub or a shower, with a hair dryer available in all of them. High-speed internet is available throughout the hotel, so there is no early mornings spent hanging out of the hotel window trying to find a strong signal, and check-in begins at 12:00pm, which is one of the earliest check-in times that you will find in the entire city.

The Times Nagasaki Hotel is also ideally located, a short trek from public transport options and from some great places to eat, drink, shop and explore. The Times Nagasaki Hotel also has a business center, fitted with computers and everything else you could need to stage a small presentation, a small meeting, or to catch up with your business errands.

Ouiinn Guesthouse

The Ouiinn Guesthouse offers 2.5 star rated accommodation; a complete, comfortable and affordable guesthouse that many of the students attending the aforementioned university would like. This is as basic as it gets, but that also makes it very cheap and for some, that is ideal. That’s not to say that the Ouiinn Guesthouse is not clean or comfortable, because it is. The owners have gone to great lengths to make use of the space available to them, and you will actually find bigger rooms here than in many of the more upscale hotels in other areas of the city.

  • Airport Shuttle? No
  • Free WiFi? Yes
  • Pool? No
  • Fitness Center? No
  • Restaurants? No
  • Near Public Transport? Yes

As a guesthouse, there is an extra emphasis on comfort and a homely service. Check-in is late, at 4:00pm, but you can phone ahead and request an early check-in if you are running early. On many occasions you will find that they will do their best to accommodate you. There are not many rooms at the Ouiinn Guesthouse, so if this sounds like what you fancy then try and book a room as soon as you can. As we said above, there isn’t a great deal of choice around here in terms of accommodation, so during the peak holiday seasons it is very difficult to find rooms available at the Ouiinn Guesthouse and at other hotels and guesthouses as well.

Once you’re settled and suitably refreshed inside the hotel, then you can head out and enjoy everything that the surrounding area has to offer, with plenty in the way of cafes, restaurants and bars.
