Soochow University Hotels – Reviews of Nearby Hotels

Soochow University is a private university, with over 13,000 students on the books and over 1,000 staff. The university has been around since 1900, when it was created by merging three other institutions. Soochow University was founded by methodists and adheres to the principles of that religion to this day, with an in-house methodist priest operating in their exclusive church.

There are two branches of the Soochow University, with one of them located in the Zhongzheng District, and the other located in Shilin District. If you find yourself in either of these districts, then there is plenty for you to do away from the university. The Shilin District is home to the Shilin Night Market, which is not only the most famous night market in Taiwan, but is also one of the most famous across the world. It is also one of the oldest, as it has been going strong since 1899. This is the place to be if you fancy a stroll on an evening, with plenty of food to eat, plenty of drinks to drink and plenty of trinkets to purchase. Don’t feel that you have to make a purchase here though, as the majority of people that pass through visit for the experience, and usually don’t come away with anything.

As for the Zhongzheng District, this is home to the Botanical Garden, the Natural Museum of History, the 228 Memorial Park and much more. The annual gay pride parade also comes through here, beginning at 228 Memorial Park. This is a great district to absorb some culture, with stacks of museums, from the National Taiwan Museum, all of the way to the Museum of Drinking Water. Both of these districts also have plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, and these are the places that make a holiday, as you sample the local food and drink and chat with some of the local people.

If you fancy paying a visit to the Soochow University, and are looking for a hotel in either of these regions, then checkout the two we have listed below. These are our favorite hotels both in Shilin District and Zhongzheng District.
