Taipei Forward Hotel – Nangang Branch Review

Located in the Nangang District, the Taipei Forward Hotel is perfectly situated for an enjoyable holiday to this city and to this district in particular. This 3-star hotel is only a short walk away from one of the biggest attractions in the city of Taipei and it is also just a short drive from the Nangang Railway Station, which has links to many other districts.

If you want an affordable, comfortable base to enjoy your Taipei holiday, then the Taipei Forward Hotel could be just what you are looking for.

Nangang District

Grand ForwardThe Nangang District is a district in Taipei where many of the city’s best schools and technology companies are based. One of the main attractions in the Nangang District is the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall, a huge building that has played host to everything from events and fairs, to concerts by Janet Jackson, Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga. This location is a hotspot for tourists, which is why many visitors to the city choose to stay in or near the Nangang District.

That’s not all this district has to offer, but it is the main focal point. Other attractions here include the University of Science and Technology and the Nanxing Park. In fact, there are 25 parks in total in this district and there are also plenty of transport links to bring you here if you have chosen to stay in another district, and to take you elsewhere around the city if you are staying within the Nangang District.

The Basics

There are 66 rooms in the Taipei Forward Hotel and all guests are treated to a buffet breakfast, which is served everyday in the onsite restaurant. You can tuck into breakfast from as early as 7:00am, giving you plenty of time to hit the streets and spend the rest of the day experiencing everything that Taipei has to offer.

This is a very popular hotel and one that sells out quick during the peak season. In fact, we checked the bookings at the time of writing and they were fully booked for weeks in advance. This is because this district is perfect for both business and leisure travelers and as the hotel is ideally placed and affordable, they have no issue finding guests. If you want to stay here then make sure you book well in advance. If your dates are taken then you can always try ringing the hotel, giving them your number and asking them to call you if there is a cancellation.

The Rooms

The rooms at the Taipei Forward Hotel range from Business Doubles to Deluxe Doubles. There are also twin rooms available and you can even opt for a room without a window, which will save you some money. Whatever you choose, all rooms come with an en suite fitted with a bathtub, a flat-screen television that comes with a DVD player, and a minibar. If you have rented a car for your trip or if you have brought your own, then there is also free parking available at the hotel, but you might want to warn them that you will be needing this in advance so they can make a reservation for you and ensure there is a space available.

The Facilities

There are many facilities at the Taipei Forward Hotel, all of which aim to make life easier for both leisure and business guests. If you are traveling light, then you can ask the hotel to wash, clean and iron your clothes for you, which they will do quickly before leaving the clothes in your room. If you would prefer to do it yourself then you can, as all guests are invited to make use of the laundry room.

There is a fitness center at the Taipei Forward Hotel, which is equipped with cardio and strength equipment and is open to all guests, and the hotel also has a garden. There is a business center, meeting rooms, a luggage storage facility and a currency exchange facility. The staff at the Taipei Forward Hotel are fluent in three languages and may be able to understand snippets of others. They are on hand 24-hours a day to attend to the needs of guests.

The Dining

Whilst there is a room to enjoy breakfast every morning at the Taipei Forward Hotel, there is no restaurant as such. This is a small 3-star hotel and it is not common to find onsite restaurants in such establishments. However, there is no shortage of options around the hotel, with street food vendors, cafes, restaurants and more. Venturing out of the hotel in search of such an eatery is all part of the holiday experience and you can be rewarded with some real gems this way. However, if you’d prefer something a little less adventurous, simply ask for recommendations and directions at the front desk and they will be happy to assist you as best they can.
