Smoking Hotels in Taipei

Smoking used to be more universally accepted than it is today. There was a time when you could smoke anywhere you wanted, from move theaters to airplanes and everywhere else. Those times have changed though and now it’s hard for smokers to find places where they can light-up. One of the biggest difficulties that smokers face is finding a hotel that lets them smoke. They’ll be sleeping in that hotel, taking breakfast in that hotel and generally spending large parts of the day in it, so they’ll need to smoke.

Luckily, there are a few hotels that have designated smoker areas. None of them allow smoking in the rooms, fire safety issues won’t allow them to do that and they also don’t want the smoke staining the walls or infusing its stench in the fabrics. However, these designated smoking areas are more than enough for smokers to get their fix during their stay.

With that in mind, which are the best hotels in Taipei that have designated smoking areas?

Grand Hotel Taipei

The aptly named Grand Hotel Taipei is one of the biggest and the most impressive hotels in the city of Taipei, both inside and outside. Built in a Classical Chinese style, this is a five-star hotel that offers an eclectic mix of rooms, along with an abundance of facilities and services for all guests to take advantage of.

The Grand Hotel Taipei has a large outdoor pool and there are also plenty of activities to enjoy inside and outside. The Grand Hotel Taipei is also located in the Zhongshan District, which is very popular with tourists, thanks to the abundance of culture and delicious street food. If you’d prefer something a little more upmarket, there are some fine dining restaurants within the hotel, including the Grand Garden and the Golden Dragon.

As far as the designated smoking areas are concerned, you’ll probably not find anything grander and more impressive in the city. That’s because the Grand Hotel Taipei don’t do anything by half, from the daily buffet breakfasts to the immaculate rooms and the high quality toiletries. Attention to detail is key here. The Grand Hotel Taipei have a very well respected name to live up to and they do their best to ensure that everything inside and outside of this hotel is as perfect as it can be.

Park Hotel Taipei

The Park Hotel Taipei is located in the Da’an District. This 4-star hotel might not be as impressive as the Grand Hotel on the outside, but there is plenty going on inside.

  • Airport Shuttle? Yes
  • Free WiFi? Yes
  • Pool? No
  • Fitness Center? Yes
  • Restaurants? Yes
  • Near Public Transport? Yes

Whilst the Park Hotel Taipei is non-smoking in all of the rooms and the main areas, there is a designated smoking area. This is where the smokers gather morning and night, and if you have a habit that needs satisfying, then you’ll probably be frequenting this area often. If you have any issues finding the area then simply ask at the front desk. They fluently speak three different languages (English, Chinese and Japanese) and they might be able to assist you even if you speak a language other than these three. Once you have had your fix, feel free to head out onto the terrace to enjoy some fresh air and some of the Taipei sunshine. The Park Hotel Taipei also has a garden, which is a refreshing sight in such a big and modern city.

Fullon Hotel Taipei

Also located in the Da’an District, and with great transport links all around the city, the Fullon Hotel Taipei is a 5-star hotel that goes out of its way to satisfy the needs of all guests. This includes creating a designated smoking area where smokers can meet and get their fix throughout the day.

  • Airport Shuttle? No
  • Free WiFi? Yes
  • Pool? Yes
  • Fitness Center? Yes
  • Restaurants? Yes
  • Near Public Transport? Yes

This hotel is smaller than the other two on this list and there are only 120 rooms here, but there is plenty of space in the onsite restaurants, bar and lounge areas, and there is also a spacious business center and meeting rooms. The Fullon brand is one of the most well known hotel brands in the East and the Fullon Hotel Taipei, whilst being far from their biggest, is one of their most popular hotels.

So, even if you smoke, these hotels prove that even in the most luxurious and high-class hotels, there are designated smoking areas. After all, for many this is an essential habit and hotels are in the business of keeping customers happy, so it only makes sense. If you stay at a hotel that doesn’t have a designated area, ask at the front desk to see if there is somewhere close to the hotel you can smoke without offending the staff or other guests, and without breaking any rules.
