2017 Shanghai Park Gardening Cultural Activity Map

Plum

Plum has more than 3,000 years of history in cultivation. No matter for the ornamental purpose or for the fruit, it has many variety. Pine, bamboo, and plum are called “three friends in the cold”. In the cold winter, plum blossom first.

Recommended Park: Fengxian Haiwan Forest Park, Minhang Xinzhuang Park, Pudong Century Park, Putuo Peichuan Park, Jing’an Sculpture Park, Jinshan Garden.

Cherry blossoms

Cherry blossoms have been common in the private courtyards in Tang dynasty. When other nations come to China, the Japanese pilgrims took cherry blossoms back to Japan. Till now, it has more than thousand years of history in Japan.

Recommended park: Baoshan Gu Village Park, Gongqing Forest Park, Fengxian Haiswan Forest Park, Pudong Century Park, Pudong Huaxia Park, Minxing Sports Park, Hongkou Luxun Park, Yangpu Park, Jin’an Sculpture Park.

Tulip

Tulips are spring-blooming perennials that grown from bulbs. The tulip’s large flowers usually bloom on scapes with leaves in a rosette at ground level and a single flowering stalk arising from amongst the leaves. They are rich in color.

Recommended parks: Shanghai Botanical Park, Jin’an Daning Park, Huangpu Nanyuan Binjiang Green Land, Minxing Sports Park, Jinshan Binhai Park.

Peony

Peonies are spring-blooming flowers. Single glowering growing. It has a lot of variety, pretty, big and colorful. It is known as “king of the flowers”.

Recommended Park: Shanghai Botanical Garden, Gu Yi Garden, Xuhui Caoxi Park, Putuo Changfeng Park, Changning Zhongshan Park, Jiading QIuxia Garden, Qingpu Daguan Garden, Fengxian Haiwan Forest Park.

Azalea

Azalea blooms in Spring. Funnel-shaped corolla and it is colorful. Legend has it that there is cuckoo birds in the ancient time, crying day and night, and its blood has dyed all the flowers on the mountain, that’s how the name comes from.

Recommended park: Binjiang Forest Park, Songjiang Fangta Garden, Songjiang Zuibaichi Park.

Rose

Rose blossoms four season. It has rich color, which are red, yellow, white, orange, pink, rose red, purple and etc. Rose is the abbreviation of the modern rose.

Recommended park: Chenshan Botanical Park, Huangpu Fuxing Park, Changning Zhongshan Park, Putuo Chengfeng Park, Minxing Park, Minxing Xincheng Central Park, Jinshan HUicui Park.

“Birds caring week” activity

As part of the activity to protect birds and maintain the natural ecological balance, Shanghai has confirmed that the second week in April each year will be designated as “birds caring week.” During this week, a lot of publicity and education activities are carried out. Such as, holding an academic presentation for birds caring week, hanging up artificial birds’ nest, releasing and posting posters for the birds caring activity.

Lotus water lily

Lotus blossoms in summer. This plant is an aquatic perennial. Mostly are yellow, white and red. There is blue one in tropical Asia.

Chrysanthemum

Chrysanthemums, autumn-blooming, are divided into different types by how they were planted. Chrysanthemum is called four gentlemen with plum, bamboo, and magnolia.

Begonia

Begonia is a famous flower for a long time. It has many variety.

Magnolia

Magnolia looks like lotus. When it blossoms, the petals spread to the four directions. It smells nice. It has high ornamental value.

In Shanghai’s weather, it opens sooner. The flower is big and white. It is the flower of Shanghai, presenting the spirit of pioneer.

Narcissus

Narcissus is one of the top 10 flowers in China. In Chongming, narcissus has over 400 years of history.

Autumn and concert

After years of restructure, the autumn in Shanghai is very pretty.
